As part of the World Oral Health Day celebrations, an oral health awareness session was conducted at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Women and Children Hospital, Puducherry. The programme primarily focused on parents of special children, aiming to empower them with essential knowledge on maintaining good oral hygiene for their children.
Key highlights of the session included:
1. Demonstration of Brushing Techniques – The importance of proper brushing was discussed, accompanied by a live demonstration to ensure clarity and understanding.
2. Encouragement of Routine Dental Check-ups – Parents were advised on the benefits of regular dental visits for early detection and prevention of oral issues.
3. Nutrition and Its Impact on Dental Health – The session covered how diet affects oral health and emphasized healthy eating habits.
4. Preventive Dental Care – The importance of preventive measures, such as fluoride use and sealants, was discussed to reduce the risk of dental problems.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of nearly 50 parents along with their children. A fun and interactive Q&A session was held to assess and reinforce the children’s knowledge about proper brushing habits.
Overall, the session proved to be highly productive and informative for both parents and children. It strongly resonated with this year’s theme — “Happy Mouth, Happy Mind” — underlining the link between good oral health and overall well-being.
